I Survived the People’s Debate with Vincent Browne in Dun Laoghaire last night (I think – it still has to air).
As usual afterwards I kicked myself for all things I should have said but didn’t and for some of the things I did say, but shouldn’t have!
A good crowd showed up with very interesting and pertinent views on issues from taxation to homelessness to the 8th amendment.
I was a bit surprised to be the only woman on the panel though – no shows from Mary Mitchell O’Connor, Maria Bailey, Carrie Smyth or Mary Hanafin. This meant that Richard Boyd Barrett was the only sitting TD to attend. Bless, he had his own table and all…
It will be screened tomorrow on TV3.
And in other news my fundraiser is the day after tomorrow in Cafe du Journal Monkstown.
Details below – please come or spread the news.
See you there.
Invite: Campaign Fundraiser:
Would you like to be a character in Marian Keyes next novel or learn how to speak in public like a pro?
If the answer is “yes”, come along to my fundraiser on November 5th where Marian – as well as putting together a hamper of her favourite cosmetic goodies – is offering a character name in her next novel (Time off for Bad Behaviour) to a lucky contributor.
Also the celebrated company Broadly Speaking is delighted to offer one of my supporters

Fundraiser and Launch for Carol Hunt, Independent Alliance General Election Candidate for Dun Laoghaire.
Eamon Dunphy will be launching my fundraiser on 5th November at Cafe Du Journal, Monkstown. With lots of other interesting people attending (I hope!).
This is fundamentally DIY politics, as I’ve no party and no history of politicians in my family or close circle. Many of us think that entering politics and becoming a candidate is a Very Difficult Thing to do, and Not For The Likes of Us. I’m hoping to prove the opposite – that politics is open to all – men and women (particularly women as we need so many more of them in Leinster House) who don’t necessarily have a political background.
But the requisite literature needs to be printed and posters need to be paid for so I’m holding an evening of wine and tapas, conversation and craic on 5th November and would really appreciate your support. Please come if you can. If you can’t tell your friends and get them to go instead. All offers of help or support gratefully received.

All donations gratefully accepted.
